STOP!!!!
Look, before you come and attack me, let me explain. Yes, I don't like the Problem Solverz either, it is an admittedly forgettable and seizure inducing cartoon with ugly character designs. But this is NOT the worst cartoon ever. I understand where the hate comes from, but it's time you listen very carefully.
I'm very sorry if the show hurt your eyes or gave you seizures, and I agree that they should've added a seizure warning, but believe me when I say the show's history is more fascinating than you might remember. You could even say it's more interesting than the actual show itself.
I actually do know why the Problem Solverz looked the way it did. Creator Ben Jones was part of the art collective dubbed "Paper Rad", which is a group of artists that create such pieces of media that consists of, but not limited to, comics, music, zines, video art, etc. Most of the stuff he made during the Paper Rad era of the 2000s was done in an art style he made dubbed "Dogman 99", in which they used juxtaposed images and bright neon color palettes, and cross them with primary colors, all to give their work a distinct lo-fi, or underground, look. Jones also drew some inspiration from various pieces of Japanese media, mainly Japanese pop art. And yes, he created the characters of Alfe, Roba, Horace, and the Tux Dog all when he was a kid.
That's not to say the show itself is good, but in all honesty, I don't hate everything about it. There are some things I do like about the show. And yes, I survived watching the entire show. The voice acting is surprisingly decent, the 8-bit soundtrack is nice, there are moments where the animation can finally take a break from inducing seizures, and there were some jokes I did find admittedly funny. Now, those positive aspects don't mean that the show itself is good overall. But while I still don't like the show overall, I am more than confident to say that I've seen so much worse.
I actually have met people who agree with me that, while it's not very good, it's far from the worst cartoon ever made. Ugly cartoons can be enjoyed too. I mean, a lot of you love the stuff Klasky Csupo made. Yes, you remember me being all MisAnthro Pony, and slamming other people's opinions. And listen, if you still hate me, I understand. I'd rather not talk about any drama I was involved in here on Newgrounds.
I do get where the criticisms come from, and I agree that it's visually loud, but honestly, this show was something I'd expect from a contemporary artist like Ben Jones. This wasn't just a Cartoon Network show, you guys. The Problem Solvers definitely has a pop art influence. If you don't believe me, go ask Corduroy Crook. And before you ask, yes, there DO exist people who enjoyed the Problem Solverz-- other than Corduroy Crook. LSuperSonicQ, Zerex, and Crowned Cryptid are other primary examples of people who enjoyed the Problem Solverz. Was Corduroy Crook's analysis video flawed? Yes, but it was far better than the videos by MrEnter, Disco Spider, Animated Memories (seriously, dude used AI to make his video thumbnails-- that's worse than Problem Solverz), Lazybones, etc.
I'm sorry for what I said, but still. I know we live in a post-Porygon world, but people who enjoy the Problem Solverz doesn't mean they enjoy hurting their eyes, Disco Spider!!!!! You must've seen eyestrain art before, and it's really vibrant. I'm sure Smiling Friends is a better show, but I don't think Ben Jones designed to kill you. Honestly, I actually DO think the Problem Solverz would fare better on Adult Swim than on Cartoon Network. If you really thought that was insulting?? It's not. Ben Jones actually DID pitch this show to Adult Swim in 2008 as Neon Knome. But Adult Swim claimed it looked too cute-- that's how Cartoon Network ended up with it. I don't get how this show is too cute for Adult Swim, because this whole show definitely has that Adult Swim vibe going for it.
Don't get me wrong, this show IS boring usually, but I've seen way worse. I agree that it can be hard to watch from time to time, and I don't wanna change your opinion on it, but would it really hurt to just do further research on it??!! I get it, it hurts your eyes, but that was not the intention!!! Plus, Alfe isn't actually a living turd, he's actually a fur monster designed after Gumby. Yes, Ben Jones drew influence from Art Clokey.
Oh, and by the way, don't listen to OfficialMung. If you've seen his video on how the 2010s were the best era of Cartoon Network, he said that he didn't wanna see people speaking in defense of the Problem Solverz in the comments of that video. And yes, he did end up blocking those who defended the Problem Solverz. Even Caleb Doerksen agrees with me about how much of a jackass OfficialMung is in his videos.
I asked him if he agrees with me that OfficialMung sounds like Diaz Station when he says that he didn’t wanna see anyone defending the Problem Solverz. And he said yes, that's especially something he'd expect from Diaz Station (aka MisAnthro Pony). It really makes Mung seem like another one of those narcissistic "objective" critics like him. You can hate the Problem Solverz all you want, but if you decided to slam the people who worked on the show, as well as the people who defended it, then you're all a bunch of jerks-- just saying.
I would know, I've received a lot of hate for how I ridiculed stuff like Phineas and Ferb, classic Nicktoons, Superjail!, 2010s Cartoon Network, Ben 10, etcetera!!! I'm still baffled as to how the Loud House is supposed to be better, when it's harder for me to defend a show made by a creep who's work at Cartoon Network wasn't as fondly remembered. Yes, Chris Savino was the showrunner for the last two seasons of Dexter's Laboratory and the Powerpuff Girls. Oh, and he also produced and directed the first season of Johnny Test. He did such horrible actions during his time on all those shows that led him to being fired from Nickelodeon in 2017.
Plus, Cartoon Network has aired shows worse than Problem Solverz-- Wulin Warriors, Out of Jimmy's Head, Powerpuff Girls 2016, High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange, and ESPECIALLY Mighty MagiSwords. I was gonna say Grojband, but I'd get a lot of hate here. I still don't like Grojband, but don't worry, I've seen way worse than that show too.
You have a right to hate the Problem Solverz, yes, but you do NOT have the right to ridicule those who worked on the show, nor do you have a right to ridicule those who enjoyed it. Ben Jones may not have been as influential, but is he really the worst cartoonist ever?? No, he just made a show that admittedly wasn't very good. But even he has more dignity than the crap Chris Savino puts out. Jones also served as creative director for Fox's Animation Domination High-Def block, created Stone Quackers for said block, and is now working at Bento Box Entertainment with Hellaverse creator Vivienne Medrano (yes, seriously). He even created Saturday Morning All Star Hits! for Netflix, and honestly, he fits better in adult animation than in children's animation.
PFFR co-produced the Neon Knome pilot, because Ben Jones worked as an animator on Wonder Showzen-- no joke. And if someone else comes and speak in defense of the Problem Solverz, why stop them?? That would just make YOU look like a big jerk. I've had multiple arguments with other people, especially with Brendan Poepplein. He never forgave me for disrespecting his opinions. This is the kind of crap you're doing to those who enjoyed the Problem Solverz-- you're disrespecting those who enjoyed that show!! STOP IT!!!! Let people enjoy the Problem Solverz all they want. They seem to be lucky not to have seizures or eye strains. Come on, it's not like they're defending Cuties, because Cuties is a LOT worse than Problem Solverz. I will never trust Black Critic Guy ever again for his defense towards that horrible movie.
You really think Ben Jones is a serial killer?? He's not. I'm sorry if you had eye strain or seizures or headaches from watching the Problem Solverz. I understand how visually loud it is, but that... was not... the intention Ben Jones was going for. And if there exist people who like the Problem Solverz, deal with it, get over it, and move on. Nuff said.
Thank you, and have a good day! :)
